Securing an ENGG 390 Project

Is there a deadline for securing a project?

Projects should be identified and chosen during the term before the work is to be performed. Preliminary discussions with the course instructor about the suitability and scope of possible projects are often useful.

How do I go about finding and securing a project?

While Thayer School has many resources to help students, it is up to the student to find a suitable project. Industrial internships, personal interest, family connections, experiences in previous design courses, advice of friends, or other sources, may suggest possibilities. Specific resources available at Thayer School to help you are:

  • Ross Gortner (Ross.Gortner@Dartmouth.edu) can guide students in their search and connect current students with alumni for area-specific advice
  • Thayer School Career Services hosts career fairs and company information sessions, and organizes company interviews on campus
  • On-line MEM Internship Resume Book (available through Career Services)
  • Dartmouth alumni network
  • Professors in fields of interest to you
