Engineering Science 31 (Computer Science 47) DIGITAL ELECTRONICS Engs 31 provides a thorough introduction to the field of digital electronics. Major topics include combinational logic, sequential logic, algorithmic state machines, digital arithmetic, and contemporary design techniques, including VHDL, simulation, and programmable logic. Weekly laboratory exercises in the first part of the course are followed by a significant project in which groups of students design and build large systems of their choice. In the process, computer-aided design (CAD) and construction techniques for digital systems are learned. The only prerequisite for Engs 31 is the ability to count from 0 to 1.
