Peter Fahey spent his active business career with the Goldman Sachs Corporate Finance Department after receiving his MBA from Harvard in 1975. He was named a Vice President in 1978 and a General Partner in 1982. Over the years he headed or co-headed the Investment Banking Division's Strategic Planning and Recruiting Committees, the firm's Commitments Committee, High Technology Group, Product Development and Innovation Group, and the Limited Partners Advisory Committee. He retired from active service in 1993, served as a Senior Director until 2000, and is now a private investor. Prior to pursuing his MBA, Mr. Fahey worked in the field of membrane separation, first as a scientist and later in manufacturing.
Fahey served on the Dartmouth Board of Trustees from 1994–2004, and received Thayer School's Robert Fletcher Award in 2003 and the Dartmouth Alumni Award in 2007. He is the father of four Dartmouth alumni: Kimberly '92, Peter, Jr. '94, Michael '97, and Katie '06. He and his wife, Helen, live in New York.
