Dartmouth Engineering Welcomes New Board Members and Chair

Thayer School of Engineering's Board of Advisors has welcomed four new alumni members—Amber Bryant Colón '12 Th'12, Michael Doogue Th'98, Sujan Patel '01, and David Swift Th'84—and also celebrated the service of its outgoing chair, Samantha Scollard Truex '92 Th'93 Tu'95, who ended her tenure in June to be replaced by Todd Cook '93 Th'94.

The new members bring decades of combined expertise in fields that include biotechnology, economics, and the semiconductor industry, along with strategic management and leadership experience.

Amber Bryant Colón is an associate vice president at Eli Lilly and Co. and serves as the US commercial leader for Lilly's most innovative insulin products. A longtime pioneer in the biotechnology field, Colón holds an AB in engineering sciences and a BE from Dartmouth, and an MBA from Yale.

Michael Doogue is senior vice president and chief technology officer at semiconductor company Allegro Microsystems. He earned his BE at Dartmouth as a Partner School Dual-Degree Program student from Colby, and completed the senior executive program at Stanford's Business School.

Sujan Patel is the founding partner of Nantam Capital, a private real estate investment and advisory firm. He earned his AB in engineering sciences modified with economics from Dartmouth, and was a member of the Dartmouth Founders Circle—the philanthropic group that helped establish the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship.

David Swift is founder, president, and CEO of Swift Consulting Services, providing executive leadership, operational, and strategic coaching across a number of industries. Swift earned his BA in physics and mathematics from Amherst, an ME from Dartmouth, and an MBA from Harvard.

Sam Truex served on the Board for nine years, including the past four at the helm, and this summer welcomed Cook as the Board's new chair. Truex has led multiple venture-backed companies, serving as CEO of Upstream Bio and Quench Bio, COO of Synlogic, and CBO for Padlock Therapeutics, and has held leadership roles in corporate development at Biogen and Genzyme. Truex earned her AB in engineering sciences and BE in biomedical engineering from Dartmouth and her MBA from Tuck.

New chair, Todd Cook, has been a Board member since 2019 and is a managing partner of Boston's Bain Capital Double Impact, a fund that invests in companies providing financial returns alongside social and environmental impacts. The engineering sciences-economics double major has spent his career at Bain Capital, and previously worked 20 years as a member of the North American private equity team.
