MEM Industry Internships

As part of the capstone experience, all MEM students complete an industry-sponsored internship where they apply engineering problem-solving skills and leadership training to a real-life business context.

Students work closely with industry leaders to provide solutions for an engineering or management need identified by the company, and, at the same time, gain credit for the ENGG 390: MEM Project course.

Preparation for the Real-World

The three-month summer internship, taken as part of the ENGG 390: MEM Project course, not only provides students with the experience and skills necessary for the real world, but also gives business leaders access to the ingenuity and innovation of Dartmouth MEM students to help them solve an engineering or management challenge.

What do MEM interns contribute?

MEM students have helped companies:

  • acquire action-oriented insights through statistics and machine learning
  • translate customer needs into market-ready product design
  • identify bottlenecks, streamline operations, and provide guidance for digital transformation
  • and more.
Students engage with employers about internship opportunities.
