Support Engineering Education

Your gifts directly advance student scholarship, research, and innovation. From Bachelor of Engineering (BE) financial aid to PhD innovation fellowships, your support can make an impact.

Direct your gift in a way that's meaningful to you.

BE Financial Aid

Dartmouth recently launched a fundraising initiative to expand BE financial aid, with the goal of raising a total of $35 million in endowed scholarships to guarantee loan-free financial support for students pursuing the BE in their fifth year.

Opportunity without Barriers

Expanding financial aid allows all engineering students to pursue their passions, deepen their technical expertise, while fully engaging in the Dartmouth experience—without financial barriers or compromise.

PhD Innovation Fellowships

In 2008, Dartmouth Engineering launched the first PhD Innovation Program in the nation. This program is a magnet for students who want the depth of a PhD degree from an engineering school recognized for world-class, high-impact research, but whose career aspirations lie in industry or entrepreneurship rather than academia.

"The PhD-I community makes Thayer so unique, so special, and it is the relationships I've built here that will enable me to hopefully make an outsized impact on the world."

—Chase A. Yakaboski Th'24, PhD Innovation Fellow

Fuel Innovation and Impact

The PhD Innovation Program enhances Dartmouth Engineering's reputation as a destination for aspiring entrepreneurs. Your support for PhD Innovation fellowships helps us provide unique training, support, and resources to PhD students seeking to translate their research into commercial applications with real-world impact.

Undergraduate Research Opportunities

Dartmouth Engineering provides undergraduates with opportunities to engage in faculty-mentored, graduate-level research, scholarship, and projects outside the classroom.

"My undergraduate research pushed me beyond my comfort zone and challenged me in ways I had not imagined. I encourage all Thayer students to pursue this opportunity, as it offers a chance to learn, explore, and fully engage in the process of discovery."

—Hannah Ren '24

Advance Undergraduate Research

Approximately 60% of Thayer undergraduates, both Bachelor of Arts (AB) and Bachelor of Engineering (BE) students, take part in research as part of a course or within a graduate lab. Most research projects are collaborations that integrate one or more engineering disciplines with other sciences. Our long-term goal is to engage all undergraduate students in research activities, including those enrolled in the BE program.

Dartmouth Emerging Engineers

Established in 2016, the Dartmouth Emerging Engineers (DEE) program aims to improve the experience of first-year Dartmouth students who enter with an interest in engineering. The program provides support and mentoring to ensure they gain a solid academic foundation before beginning engineering courses.

DEE tutors discuss teaching methods in a training session in Dartmouth's Engineering and Computer Science Center.

Expanding the Engineering Pipeline

In the past decade, DEE has enhanced student success and has proved to be an important tool in helping us retain talented students who want to study engineering. Our vision is to provide a comprehensive program to fully engage and support students from the start of their undergraduate studies through to graduation.
