ERAD 265 - Radiation Biology
Description
Upon completion of this course, students will: (1) Understand most aspects of radiobiology relevant for Diagnostic Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, and Radiation Oncology; (2) Understand the physics, chemistry, DNA strand breaks & chromosomal aberration from radiation: (3) Interpret cell survival, radiosensitivity, repair mechanisms; (4) Interpret dose rate effects, oxygen effects, LET and RBE effects of radiation; (5) Understand acute and long term and hereditary effects of radiation; (6) Understand the radiation risks to fetus, embryo, eye, cardiology, and body; (7) Appreciate molecular, biological and model systems used in radiobiology studies; and (8) Understand aspects of dose fractionation, radiation types, chemotherapy synergies and hyperthermia.

This course was previously offered as RAD 002. Students who received credit for RAD 002 may not register for ERAD 265.
