ENGS 118 - Electric Power Systems
Description
This entry-level power system engineering course will prepare students for understanding and dealing with practical problems with fundamental power system related concepts, knowledge, and analytic techniques. The course provides an overall picture of what electric power grids look like and an introduction to their fundamental concepts and key components. The student will learn how to model the basic components of such systems, including transmission lines, transformers, generators, and loads. With understanding the principles and characteristics of basic power system components, students will be ready to apply mathematic model and circuit analysis techniques to electric power engineering and solve common problems. Besides mathematical modeling, the course also covers computation algorithm in solving power system load flow and basic power system analysis.
Prerequisites
