Climate Accelerator Takes Aim at a Net-Zero Future
Sep 18, 2023 | Irving Institute
To address one of the most important challenges of our time, Dartmouth is launching an accelerator, Greenshot, for climate solutions entrepreneurs. Led by the Arthur L. Irving Institute for Energy and Society and the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship, Greenshot entrepreneurs benefit from exclusive access to Dartmouth's reach and resources, including Thayer alumni such as Andrew Lacker '98 Th'99, Managing Director at Energy Innovation Capital and a Greenshot program advisor.
The three-month accelerator program will provide expert curriculum and mentorship to startups to help them scale, expand marketing reach, and prepare to raise seed or series A funding. Entrepreneurs will be eligible to win up to $75K in non-dilutive funding.
Greenshot will run from late January–late April 2024. The deadline to apply is October 27.
"We're open to all types of climate solutions," explains Liana Frey '92 Tu'98, Irving Institute Senior Fellow, who is leading the initiative. "Whether you're developing for the energy transition, pioneering a carbon capture method, launching a sustainable product, or building climate resilience strategies, Greenshot can help you reach the next level."
Greenshot is hybrid, so that entrepreneurs from beyond the Dartmouth campus can also access this opportunity. "We designed the program in a hybrid format so anyone can participate from anywhere," says Frey. "There is an opening and closing weekend in Hanover, but the rest of the program is virtual."
In addition to virtual access to the accelerator, participants will also have many opportunities to connect with the Dartmouth community. "We have one of the most engaged and connected communities in the world," noted Irving Institute Executive Director April Salas. "Our alumni are active climate leaders from startups to corporations to finance to government. We have amazing faculty and best-in-class partnerships. We are leveraging this amazing community to help spur innovation in climate and bring new ideas and solutions to market. We're all in to make an impact."
Greenshot offers not just access to the Dartmouth community of experts, but also resources for participants who want to work in Hanover, including space such as dry labs and dedicated work areas in the new, sunlight-filled, open, and airy Irving Institute building, located in the heart of Dartmouth's West End District.
Interested applicants are invited to an informational webinar on September 26 from 3-4pm ET or October 5 from 5-6pm ET. Learn more.
