Instructions for claiming your Dartmouth account will be emailed to you after you accept your offer. When you receive these instructions, please set up your Dartmouth email account as soon as possible.

    Questions about Dartmouth email?
Contact Thayer Computing Services at computing@thayer.dartmouth.edu.

Please monitor and use your Dartmouth email account for all school correspondence. We will be sending important information to you via this account.

  • Verify your transcript and letters of recommendation.

Thayer uses ReVera services to authenticate letters of recommendation and transcripts. Applicants who accept the offer of admission will receive an email with instructions on where to send official transcripts. This email will also include an e-release form to be signed.

  • Link your Dartmouth email to your Coursera account.

Look for an email from Coursera to your Dartmouth email inviting you to join the online MEng program on the Coursera website. Please keep in mind that you will need to set up your Dartmouth email first as you will be logging into the degree program on Coursera using your Dartmouth credentials.

Before the Start of the Term

Two months before the start of the term

  • Attend a newly admitted students webinar.

Plan to attend an informational webinar hosted by faculty and staff from the online MEng degree program. Topics include what to expect as a new Dartmouth graduate student, how best to prepare for the start of your courses, and opportunities to meet other admitted students. Watch your email closely for dates and times.

  • Review the prep content.

Your offer of admission contains a list of resources to make sure you are prepared academically for the degree program. Make sure you know and understand the prep content before classes begin. Ten-week terms move quickly, so it's very important that you review any content where you may be rusty. Multivariable calculus, linear algebra, and Python are particularly important for the program's initial classes. Former students have indicated that this preparation was vital to their success.

One month before the start of the term

  • Check your student account.

Tuition bills are sent via email through DPay. Depending on when you accept your offer of admission, a bill notification may not be emailed directly to you. It is very important that you log in to DPay to check your account and settle any outstanding amounts due. If you do not see a balance due, it may be pending and you should check the account again to ensure you do not miss a payment deadline. Students need to sign in to DPay prior to the start of each term to ensure balances are paid. If you are interested in using a Payment Plan, please contact Campus Billing well in advance of the start of the term.

  • Complete the Online MEng orientation course.

You will gain access to the online MEng orientation course on Coursera, typically about a month before the term starts. This orientation course will provide you with specific information about course planning and registration, as well as Dartmouth policies and procedures. You must complete the course prior to the start of the term to access your for-credit courses.

  • Register for classes.

Look for an email from the Thayer Registrar with information about course offerings for the upcoming term. You can register for either one or two courses per term. If you are taking one course, we recommend registering for ENGG 408: Machine Learning. You will register for courses via the Thayer Add/ Drop tile on DartHub.

Two weeks before the start of term

  • Pay your tuition.

Tuition bills are typically due roughly two weeks before the start of the term. Check your student account on DPay to make sure that your tuition bill is paid or that your payment plan is set up so that you are ready to start classes and check-in.

One week before the start of the term

  • Attend the welcome and Q&A session.

Plan to attend a virtual welcome session where you will meet other members of your cohort, along with the support staff who will be working with you while you are enrolled in the program. There will be opportunities for questions and answers and a chance to meet your classmates before classes start.

Start of the Term

First week of the term

  • Complete check-in.

You will receive an email from the Thayer Registrar reminding you to complete online check-in through DartHub. This ensures that your student account is settled, that you have no holds on your account, and that you are ready to begin classes. Check-in must be completed during the first few days of the term to avoid a late fee. Note that you will need to check in each term you are enrolled in classes.

  • Access your class(es).

Welcome to Dartmouth! You are now an officially enrolled student. Please reach out to the student support team if you have any questions or concerns.
