Couch Project Lab, MacLean ESC

Students in "Solid Mechanics" design and build a scale model of a bridge that is capable of carrying pedestrians and small vehicles over a river and that is stiff, strong, and economical.

Each team uses SolidWorks to analyze and predict the maximum load their bridge can support, as well as how far the bridge roadway will bend at a load of 1 kN.

Then Thayer's Instron machine then puts their predictions to the test!
