Thayer graduate students are assigned a mailbox for receiving both intra-campus mail and general mail via the United States Postal Service (USPS). All mailboxes are located behind the receptionist's desk, off the Glycofi Atrium in MacLean Center for Engineering Sciences.
Intra-Campus Mail (Hinman)
Mail originating from Dartmouth offices or departments can be sent via Dartmouth’s intra-campus mail system, also known as Hinman mail. At Thayer, intra-campus mail is picked up and delivered once a day, usually in the morning. All intra-campus mail must have a return address and should pertain to College business between departments, colleagues, or students. Intra-campus mail service will not deliver US Postal mail (other than those redirected), books, cartons, containers, or packages. Hinman Box (or "HB") numbers for individuals and offices can be found using the online Dartmouth Name Directory (DND).
Your Hinman Box address at Thayer to receive mail from offices or departments within Dartmouth:
YOUR NAME
Hinman Box 8000
US Postal Service
The United States Postal Service (USPS) picks up and delivers mail to Thayer once a day, usually in the mornings. Visit the USPS website for more information about the hours and services available for the Hanover Post Office hours.
If you are receiving mail from outside of the Dartmouth campus, please provide the following address:
YOUR NAME
Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth
15 Thayer Drive
Hanover, NH 03755-8000
Any mail sent via the USPS should be addressed to a campus building or to a specific street address. USPS mail sent to an HB address will be delivered first to the Hinman mail system, then redirected, causing a delay.
All students who bring motor vehicles (eg. cars, motorcycles, etc.) to Dartmouth’s Hanover campus must register their vehicle with Dartmouth Transportation Services. You will be required to enter information about your vehicle, so please have your registration in hand while completing the online transaction. All vehicles parked in Dartmouth lots or parking garages during designated hours must display valid parking permits from the rearview mirror or on the vehicle’s dashboard.
Graduate Student Parking Permits
Graduate and professional student parking permits are issued annually and valid from July 1 to June 30. For information on individual permit eligibility, graduate student parking lots, and to order a permit (both available free and paid options), visit the Dartmouth Parking Portal.
Parking Policies and Regulations
Dartmouth Transportation Services enforces parking policies and regulations 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please visit the Dartmouth Transportation Services website carefully for up-to-date information about:
Accessible Parking
Accessible parking is available at Thayer and throughout campus. Students in need of accessible parking may contact Dartmouth Transportation Services to determine the most appropriate parking location. If concerns or questions arise, please contact Holly Wilkinson, Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs.
