How sound processing in the ear and brain relates to educational outcomes, mental health, and quality of life in adolescents living with HIV
How sound processing in the ear and brain relates to educational outcomes, mental health, and quality of life in adolescents living with HIV
The focus is determining if tests of central auditory function (i.e., tests of the brain’s ability to process sound) are associated with, or predict, the development of literacy and neurocognitive abilities.

Testing and delivery of hyperbaric chamber for MRI
Testing and delivery of hyperbaric chamber for MRI
The goal of this project is to develop a hyperbaric chamber suitable for use in an MRI machine to assess the effects of hyperbaric gases such as oxygen on various functions.

Physiological monitoring to accelerate safe decomposition
Physiological monitoring to accelerate safe decomposition
This project is examining the use of a novel bubble detector, along with a suite of other physiological monitors, to increase the safety of dives.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for ulcerative colitis patients hospitalized for moderate to severe flares: a phase 3 multi-center, randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy for ulcerative colitis patients hospitalized for moderate to severe flares: a phase 3 multi-center, randomized, double-blind, sham-controlled trial
The goal of this project is to investigate in a multicenter, randomized trial whether hyperbaric oxygen can improve outcomes for patients with moderate to severe ulcerative colitis who are admitted for treatment of a flare of their disease.

ExMC: Ultra-compact urinary calcium measurement device HHC inscop and sensory augmentation
ExMC: Ultra-compact urinary calcium measurement device HHC inscop and sensory augmentation
This is an augmentation request to evaluate intranasal scopolamine (INSCOP) for motion sickness prevention and treatment.
-
Ultra-compact urinary calcium measurement device: refinement and application
Ultra-compact urinary calcium measurement device: refinement and application
To develop small, low power, operationally acceptable technology that could be used to monitor the risk of kidney stone formation and rate of bone loss. This would allow for targeted countermeasures to those who need them the most.

Advancing and applying peripheral and central auditory findings in HIV/AIDS
Advancing and applying peripheral and central auditory findings in HIV/AIDS
To determine whether worsening of central auditory test performance precedes the development of cognitive deficits in PLWH.
-
Altered auditory networks in HIV-induced central nervous system dysfunction
Altered auditory networks in HIV-induced central nervous system dysfunction
To evaluate central nervous system auditory networks using MR imaging and determine how changes in these networks are affected by HIV infection and treatment.

Quantification of response to virtual reality-based sensory stimulation for relaxation and therapeutic release in ICE
Quantification of response to virtual reality-based sensory stimulation for relaxation and therapeutic release in ICE
The major goal of this project is to develop a virtual reality system including haptic
cues that can be used to provide relaxation and attention restoration in isolated and confined
environments. We are collaborating with the Australian Antarctic Project (under the
Australian Government’s Department of Agriculture, Water, and the Environment with head
offices located in Kingston, Tasmania) on this award; we are using data collected.
