Dartmouth researchers studying COVID-19 antibodies

"Researchers at Dartmouth are taking a closer look at how clues from patients who recovered from COVID-19 could contribute to a possible vaccine," reports NBC5.

"The team is studying the antibodies from people who were able to successfully fight off the virus, examining studies from weeks and months after their recovery to see if the patients have build up any kind of long-term immunity.

"Josh Weiner [G'14 and postdoc researcher in the Ackerman Lab], said they are also trying to determine if prior exposure to other coronaviruses, like the common cold, impact someone's immune response to COVID-19.

"'(We are) really trying to understand what helped them get healthy and can we adapt or learn anything from that,' Weiner said."
