Jun 07, 2018   |   Valley News

"The longtime dean of the Thayer School of Engineering will become the next provost at Dartmouth College," writes the Valley News.

"Dartmouth President Phil Hanlon announced Joe Helble’s appointment on Thursday afternoon.

"'Joe rose to the top of an impressive group of finalists and stood out for his keen ability to lead and innovate, which he has done at Thayer,' Hanlon said in a news release. 'Joe has brought national prominence to Thayer and is a leader in his field. He’s eminently suited to help shape Dartmouth’s future at this time of dynamic change and opportunity.'

"Helble, of Norwich, is currently in his fourth term as Thayer’s dean. In his 13 years in that position, the school’s funding has grown and enrollment has nearly doubled, Hanlon said. In addition, Thayer has 'flourished' under Helble’s leadership, he said.

"'I am honored to be taking on this important role, at this momentous time for Dartmouth, and I look forward to working closely with President Hanlon and the extraordinary people at Dartmouth,' Helble said."
