If you use a chainsaw, you’ll want this ergonomic safety brake that enforces proper cutting form and reduces risk of injury. The brakes are blacked out in the photo below because Cassidy Ladd ’16, Daniel Magoon ’17, Justin Partyka, dual degree, David Polashenski ’17, and Frank Zhang ’15 are pursuing patent protection. The group won the Winter Term 2015 Phillip R. Jackson Prize for outstanding performance in ENGS 21: Introduction to Engineering. Their teaching assistant was Lorin Paley ’15.

Athletes will benefit from this comfortable, custom-fitting, semi-rigid ankle brace, which is designed to prevent ankle twisting and other injuries. Having tested the brace on Dartmouth varsity and recreational athletes, Magnus Bigelow ’17, Prescott McLaughlin ’17, and dual-degree students Graham Scott and Guram Vardiashvili are pursuing patent protection and further development of their “FyreFrame Braces.” The group won the Fall Term 2014 Phillip R. Jackson Prize for outstanding performance in ENGS 21: Introduction to Engineering. Their teaching assistant was Kiah Williams ’15.
