Grad Study in STEM Panel Members

Part I (3:00–3:45pm): Addressing FAQs about graduate study

This structured panel discussion will cover the most common questions about graduate study in STEM fields, such as…When do you apply? Do you have to pay for graduate study? How long are the programs? How do you choose an advisor? MS vs. PhD? What qualifications do you need? Can you switch to a different field in graduate study? We will address all of these questions as your peers share how they made their decisions and reflect on their experience in grad school.

Part II (3:45–4:30pm): Your roadmap to receiving a graduate fellowship

External fellowships from the government and private foundations provide guaranteed funding for graduate study at the school of a candidate’s choice, giving the ultimate flexibility and stability. This break out session will cover the important facts about how to prepare for and apply to these awards, including advice from Dartmouth PhD students currently supported on fellowships.

Hosted by Dartmouth NSBE and SHPE with Prof. Will Scheideler and Thayer Career Services.
