Graduate Admissions

To Apply

MEM, MEng, MS, or PhD degree program applicants must apply using the online application.

This is the official Thayer School application for the MEM, MEng, MS, and PhD degree programs. The online application allows applicants to complete, pay for, and securely submit an application, letters of recommendation, and transcripts online. Applicants can also check their application status online with their pin and password.

Applicants to the MEM degree program who wish to be considered for need-based financial aid must apply for financial aid concurrent with submitting their application for admission. Late applications for financial aid will be accepted, but financial aid may be capped at 20% of tuition, rather than the 40% cap for those who submit on time.

Applicants to the PhD Innovation Program must meet the eligibility requirements and complete the additional application steps outlined on the PhD Innovation Program Admissions webpage.

For Dartmouth ABs or Thayer School BEs only, please contact Candace Potter (csp@dartmouth.edu) before beginning the application process for the MEM, MEng, MS, or PhD programs. All other applicants should follow the application instructions above.

Green Applications

In an effort to save resources and help our planet, we ask that you do not send us duplicate application materials.

Please read the instructions above and note that:

International Students

It is the long-standing policy of Thayer School to actively support equality of opportunity for all persons regardless of race or ethnic background, and no student shall be denied admission or be otherwise discriminated against because of age, handicap, race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or national origin.

Candidates for admission to advanced degrees should be able to read, write, and speak English with sufficient fluency so that they suffer no impediment in course work and thesis research. For the graduate degree, a student must be able to write a thesis in substantially correct English.

Candidates whose native language is not English must submit test results for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System).

While interviews are not required, they are strongly encouraged. To schedule an interview, call 1-603-646-2606 or email engineering.admissions@dartmouth.edu.

Housing

Many students choose to live on campus; however, there are several options off campus. See more information on Dartmouth's School of Graduate and Advanced Studies website.
