Dartmouth Engineering is engaged in a significant expansion of our research and academic enterprise. Central to our strategic expansion are plans to double the size of the engineering faculty.

About Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth

Dartmouth is constructing a new Center for Engineering and Computer Science (CS), which will co-locate the engineering and CS faculties. It will further expand our educational and translational capabilities by housing the Magnuson Center for Entrepreneurship and the Digital Applied Learning and Innovation Laboratory, two mission-oriented organizations focused on experiential learning and impact.

Dartmouth Engineering is a dynamic community of scholars and teachers committed to addressing critical societal needs and solving the world's most pressing challenges through ground-breaking research, technology innovation, and cultivating future generations of engineers and leaders via educational excellence in the classroom and the laboratory. As Dartmouth's department of Engineering Sciences, Thayer School is responsible for undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees. Our engineering sciences major is distinguished by the close integration of diverse engineering sub-disciplines and the liberal arts, emphasizing hands-on experiential learning, and a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. As a professional school of engineering, Thayer also offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Engineering degree, master's degrees in engineering and engineering management and PhD degrees centered on impact-focused research.

Thayer is the recipient of the National Academy of Engineering's Gordon Prize for creating an integrated engineering innovation program, which prepares undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students for engineering leadership positions. Our commitment to entrepreneurship and translational science is further embodied by our faculty, which has one of the highest startup formation rates in the US.

Our campus is located in the picturesque Upper Connecticut Valley, where vibrant academic and professional communities surround it with excellent public K-12 schools, lively arts, and an unmatched quality of life in a beautiful, rural setting. Additionally, we are within short drives of urban amenities located in Boston (MA), Burlington (VT), and Montreal (Quebec, Canada).

Eligibility & How to Apply

Each successful candidate will have a doctorate in a related field of engineering or science, demonstrated potential to lead an externally-funded research program pursuing transformational advances in engineering and technology, and teaching interests and expertise that complement Dartmouth's interdisciplinary approach to engineering education.
