COVID-19 Information

Thayer COVID-19 update and contact persons

Date: March 10, 2020

From: Dean Abramson

Dear Thayer Faculty, Staff and Students:

With the evolving situation around COVID-19, a number of questions have risen from our own community, including inquiries regarding logistics and planning around Thayer-specific events and other issues. I am writing to reiterate the current guidance provided by Dartmouth and point you to the appropriate contacts at Thayer if you have questions or are seeking additional guidance.

Please be advised that this is a fluid, fast-moving issue, so be sure to refer to Dartmouth's COVID-19 website and official communications from the COVID-19 task force and the Provost for most up-to-date information.

A team at Thayer, led by Holly Wilkinson, Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, along with Chris Cook, Chief Financial and Administrative Officer, Lee Koh, Sr. Director of Communications, Peg DeLucia, Director of Human Resources at Thayer, and Jon Stark, Director of Facilities and Operations, is meeting and providing me updates daily on this topic. Holly Wilkinson is a member of Dartmouth COVID-19 task force, the high-level group that meets daily to consult with experts and analyze risk, based on the most up-to-date data.

Courses and Research Labs

At this time, Dartmouth is not recommending that anyone deviate from their planned on-campus final exams, presentations, courses, and/or research activities. Any new guidance will be reflected in updates found on the Dartmouth COVID-19 website. If you have additional questions or seek guidance on issues pertaining to courses or research labs, please contact Holly Wilkinson (holly.wilkinson@dartmouth.edu).

Travel

We continue to observe the travel recommendations reflected on Dartmouth's COVID-19 website. Faculty and staff with questions and/or seeking guidance on issues pertaining to travel, please contact me, Alexis Abramson (alexis.r.abramson@dartmouth.edu). Students should reach out to Holly Wilkinson (holly.wilkinson@dartmouth.edu).

Events

A group at Thayer is currently evaluating upcoming large-scale on- and off-campus Thayer events, based on the official Dartmouth guidance, and will make timely recommendations to the dean. At this time, faculty and staff organizers of relatively small on-campus meetings or events are at liberty to make appropriate decisions regarding canceling, postponing, or holding them via virtual conferencing technologies. Thayer will continue to observe the event recommendations on Dartmouth's COVID-19 website, and will plan to adapt our decisions accordingly as guidance evolves. If you have questions and/or are seeking additional guidance on issues pertaining to events, please contact me, Alexis Abramson (alexis.r.abramson@dartmouth.edu).

Work Accommodations

Faculty, staff, and graduate students with questions around work accommodations and other employment-related logistics should contact Peg DeLucia (margaret.delucia@dartmouth.edu).

Communications

During this time, we are required to coordinate COVID-19-related communications with the task force and through Dartmouth’s central office. If you are planning to send any COVID-19-related communications to your constituents, please reach out to Lee Koh (eun.lee.koh@dartmouth.edu). This is to ensure consistency and accuracy in all of our messages.

To reiterate, this is a rapidly developing, complex issue, please continue to refer Dartmouth’s COVID-19 website (Dartmouth.edu/covid19) and follow official communications from the task force and the Provost for the most up-to-date guidance and recommendations for the Dartmouth community.

As President Hanlon and Provost Helble noted in their communications to the Dartmouth community yesterday, moments like these are difficult and trying for all of us, but we appreciate the great lengths that our community has taken to be flexible and adaptive, from adopting extra precautionary measures to providing necessary accommodations to support faculty, staff, and students in need.

Thank you for all of your support, patience, and understanding during this challenging time.

Best,
Alexis
