A. M1 turn W2 by R hand, then partner by L hand

B. M2 turn W1 by L hand, then partner by R hand

C. Circle four hands once around, slipping (4); clap hands (own, partner’s R, own, partner’s L), Couple1 cast down, Couple 2 lead up ctr.

n De’il Take the Warr (three couple)  1721

A1 1st couple cast one long place, 2 hand turn, 2nd couple moving up.

1st couple lead down through 3rd couple, cast back to middle place, 2 hand turn

A2 2nd cpl. repeat figure. All end in orig. places.

B1 Men R shoulder hey (M1 face down, others up)

Progressive changes (one bar per hand):  M1 change places by R with partner, L to M2, R to W2, L to M3, R to W3. 

M1 and W3 turn single L.  

B2 Women R shoulder hey (on the men’s side, W1 face down, others up)

Progressive changes (one bar per hand):  W1 change places by R with M2, L to W2, R to M3, L to W3, R to partner.

W1 and partner turn single left.

Final time through the dance, all turn single L




Dublin Bay (longways, duple minor)  1713

A. Couple1 cross, setting as they go, to corners. Turn corner by R hand once; Couple1 cross passing L sh., go below Cpl2, end in middle facing out, facing same sex. Arm R 1x, all finish facing down, Couple1 in center

B. In line, all fall back a double (up the hall), go forward a double, turn to face up; fall back a double (down the hall), come forward; Couple1 makes assisted cast to progressed pl. 




Hambleton’s Round O (longways, triple minor)  1713

     Tune is in triple time.

A. Couple1 cast to 2nd place (2s move up), M1 hey with Couple3 passing W3 by L while W1 hey w/ Couple2 (pass M2 by L). Couple1 turn 2-hands in middle (last 2 bars)

B. W1 & M2 (in 1st corner positions) change places, M1 & W2 same, circle L half & all turn single R; face partner to start circular hey (4 changes)




Jack’s Health (longways, duple minor)    1686

A. Couple1 cross, go below 2s; 2-hand turn once

A. Back-to-back w/ neighbor; all fall back from partner, set

B. All forward, all turn single outward; rights & lefts (4 changes, with hands); all 2-hand turn partner (Couple1 go 11/2; Couple2 go once)




Jaque Latin  (longways duple minor)  1755

A 1st woman hey for 3 with men, L-shoulder to 2nd man to begin, return to place

A 1st man hey for 3 with women, R-shoulder to 2nd woman to begin.

B 1st couple cross R-shoulder and cast down 1 place, below 2nd couple, cross R-shoulder and cast down 1 more place.

B (1-2) 1st couple lead up center one place to face original 2nd couple

(3-4) 1st couple keeping hands with partner, all set to neighbor. 

(5-8) 1st couple lead up thru the 2nd couple & cast down (2s move up).

A. All mirror hey, 1s going between 2s to start

B2 1st woman and 3rd man change places, then 1st man and 3rd woman change places.

All turn partner two hands.




n Old Wife Behind the Fire (longways, dupl minor) 

A1 1s set, cast of one place, 2s moving up

1s two-hand turn once round

A2 2nd couple the same

B1 1s cross and cast off, 2s moving up;

2s cross and cast off into the middle of a line of four facing up

B2 Up a double and back, bending the lines;

2 changes of a circular hey

2nd corners L-hand turn not quite once around to end in the center facing partner, while 1st corners cast R, dance across the set, and almost halfway around to face partner in a line of 4 across the dance.

B1 Partners gypsy R 1¼, flowing into:  All circle once round.

B2 2nd corners cross R; partners cross R to own sides.

All star R once round.




n The Prince of Westborough (longways, duple minor) 

Paula Kelley, 2006   Waltz time. 

A In groups of 4 (hands not joined), all balance into the center and out; all turn single R; RH star once round.

In circles of 4, all balance into the center and out; all turn single L; LH star once round.

B 1st corners cross L and leisurely turn single R to face in while 2nd corners turn single R and cross R

Prince William (3 cpl., longways) 2 parts   1731

Quite Carr-ied Away (triple minor, 4-cpl set-Scottish style progression)  1975

     Waltz time. (Dance & tune by Pat Shaw, written for Joan Carr Shimer)

A. Ones & twos circle half, pass thru (across set); Ones back-to-back along line (M1 up with M2,W1 down w/ W3), end facing partner

A. Ones circle with the cpl at the other end of the set; whole set back-to-back ptnr (1s in middle, all proper)

B. Ones RH turn all the way (4 bars); M1 half hey up with 2s while W1 half hey down with 3s, finishing hey with LH turn that 1st corner (who is improper), then ones hook to middle position improper, passing by L sh. All improper, 2,1,3.

B2 Ones RH turn once then hey at the other end (M1 down, W1 up), finishing hey with LH turn that 2nd corner, then Ones pass by L shoulder.

Repeat dance, Ones dancing with 3s and 4s (2s out at top), then 1s drop to the bottom




Sun Assembly (longways, duple minor)  1750

A. Circle half and fall back, keep hands with neighbor, 1s move fd and 2s bk up (gate) to progressed place, imp; Couple1 half fig.8 through couple above, who change places after 1s go thru, all set and turn single

B. Cpl.1 R hand across w/ cpl. below, cpl.1 L.hand across with couple above; cpl.1 lead through cpl below and cast up, partners turn 2-hands




Wa’ Is Me, Wha’ Mun I Do? (longways duple)

(tune by Purcell, in waltz time)   1696

A. M1 slow set left to partner, man and two women set right (6); Circle 3 to the L, man ends in W2’s place (6)

M1 drops LH & leads women CW behind M2, finishing in W2’s place (12)

A. M2 does same, finishing in W1’s orig. place 

  (all now progressed and improper)

B. Balance back with Nbr, come forward (6)

Two slow chassez steps to L, finishing on side with partner (6)  (women are above)

Lead out with partner, lead back (6)

All cast over R shoulder, to orig places (6) 

1st corners advance & retire (6); 2nd corners same (6); 3 changes R&L (w/ hands) (12)




Well Hall (longways, duple minor) Triple time.  1701

A. Couple1 turn R 1 1/2; cast down (2s move up), 1s change places, backing into proper side 

A. Couple2, the same

B. 1st corners change (2 measures), 2nd corners change; Circle L 1/2 way, all turn single (1s turn up & away from ptnr, 2s down & away)

B. 2nd corners change, 1st corners change; Circle L halfway, 1s cast down as 2s lead up




Yellow Stockings (Longways, duple minor) 1726.
