NOTICE:
As of September 2012 I am no longer working at Dartmotuh College, and I am pursuing the development of a business in the field of engineering / computer science in healthcare.
I will be unbale therefore to support perspective master, PhD students, and postrocs.
For a while I will keep this page updated, posting new publications, as I am still active on topics related to my "core interests" at Dartmouth - methods for imaging the electrical properties of tissues.
Research Interests
Medical Imaging
Discrete Inverse Problems
Electrical Impedance Tomography
Magnetic Resonace Methods for Imaging Electrical Properties of Tissues
Scientific Computing & Visualization
High Performance Computing on GPUs
Numerical
Methods for Electromagnetism
Biomedical Instrumentation
Embedded Systems
Teaching
In the Spring Term 2011 I have been teaching a new graduate course ENGG-199 "Medical Image Visualization - Analysis and GPU Accelerated Computing", the course covers aspects of visualization/analysis and processing of 3D medical datasets. Students have prototyped solutions based onVTK (www.vtk.org) ITK (www.itk.org) the Python language (taught during the course). The course has also covered aspects of GPU computing.

Current Research Projects
Research Supervision
- I have been supervising Elia Attardo, Postdoctoral Fellow, on topics relative to GPU acceleration of tomographic reconstruction, implementation on GPUs of Algebraic Multigrid Solvers, and FEM modeling in prosate and breast imaging with electrical impedance tomography. With Elia we are working together also on forward and inverse methods for microwave imaging of the breast.
- I have supervised Haider Syed, MS student, on topics relative to image fusion between Electrical Impedance Tomography and Ultrasound, for an application related to prosatate cancer imaging.
- I have have supervised Jeffrey Forsyth, MS student, on topics relative to methods for optically capturing the shape of the breast and producing automatically patient specific FEM models - to be used in imaging techniques for breast cancer screening.
