From Brussels to Schaerbeek in 1931

This registered cover was sent from Brussels to Shaerbeek on 9 February 1931, more than 10 years after the Red-Cross stamps had been taken out of circulation! The 2F50 total franking was enough for Express mail (as pencilled below "Recommandé), except that, strictly speaking, the Red Cross stamps had no longer any postage value.
See another cover with stamps used after they had officially been removed from circulation.

Characteristics:
  • 20c+20c and 25c+25c Red Cross stamps
with 1c and 2c (2x) King Albert with trench helmet (Scott Nos. 124-125) and a block of 50c lion (Scott No. 207)
  • 9 stamps in all with total franking of 2F50c
  • Registered letter
  • Nearly local destination
  • Clear cancels of departure
  • No cancel of arrival
Estimated value: $160
