From Mons to Etterbeek in 1918

This postcard was sent from Mons to Etterbeek on 30 November 1918, only nineteen days after the end of the war and the liberation of the city of Mons. The Mons cancel is a fortune cancel of the "bridge" type. Although there is no marking that proves arrival, it is likely that the card made the trip. The backside of the card is an expression of passionate love.

Characteristics:
  • Franking of only 1 cent
  • Fortune "bridge" cancel
Estimated value: $37
[Purchase price in November 2004]
