Tips on getting better performance from waxless skis and on traveling with skis: from Pete Vordenberg at www.skipost.com.
Quick tip for Crown Ski Waxing:
- Waxless cross-county skis can be waxed so that they get better grip. This can
be important on steep terrain or when using old skis where the crown pattern has
been worn down. It is best to add kick wax in front of the crown pattern for 3
to 6 inches, rather than wax right over the crown pattern, which is a mess to
clean up. Remember, waxless means they don't need kick wax. All skis should be
glide waxed, at least occasionally to keep the bases in good shape and running
easily over the snow.
