IEEE publishes the Pre-College Career Preparation Guide with tips and suggested resources for exploring careers in electrical, electronics, and computer engineering.
You can find great information about how to prepare for a career while still in high school, e.g., what courses to take so that you will be prepared for engineering coursework at the college level after your high school graduation. You'll also find good suggestions on programs and extracurricular activities.
If you are a Boy Scout, ask your Scout Master about ASME's partnership program. Did you know there's an Engineering Merit Badge to be earned?

ASME's Engineering Magic—this site was designed for teachers and parents to find great activities that they could share with you, but it probably wouldn't hurt to show it to them instead!
Project Lead the Way (PLTW), from the National Alliance for Pre-Engineering Programs—a national program forming partnerships among public schools, higher education institutions, and the private sector, PLTW seeks to increase the quantity and quality of engineers and engineering technologists graduating from our educational system. Programs have been developed at both the high school and middle school levels. See the list of PLTW state contacts.
