Explore the great outdoors

Hanover and surrounding areas offer opportunities for outdoor adventure and recreation in all seasons. The Connecticut River is just one of many rivers and lakes offering canoeing, kayaking, rowing, sailing, swimming, fishing and other water sports. The Dartmouth golf course is within walking distance of the campus. And you can take advantage of opportunities for rock climbing, on-and off-road biking, in-line skating, camping, and hiking, including the Appalachian Trail, which passes directly through Hanover. The winter holds many possibilities too, with skating on Occom Pond, sledding on the golf course, alpine skiing at the Dartmouth Skiway and at many other top-rated ski resorts of New England, and cross-country skiing in open settings or along serene, wooded trails around Hanover.
