Andy Silvernail is a mission-focused leader with a bias for action. He has led large organizations with global operations, giving him a clear understanding and experience in navigating the issues facing a multinational business like ours. Andy is a strong believer in service, from driving employee engagement to serving the community in which he lives.

Prior to joining Madison, Andy served as Chairman, President and CEO of IDEX Corporation since 2011. During his tenure as CEO, employee engagement increased significantly, reaching best in class and shareholder return grew by more than 500 percent, reaching the top of the industrial sector. Andy serves as a director for the Boys & Girls Club of Lake County, Illinois, and, with IDEX, established and grew the IDEX Foundation, the company’s charitable giving entity.

Before joining IDEX, Andy held executive positions at Rexnord Industries, Newell Rubbermaid, and Danaher Corporation. He serves on the board of directors of Stryker Corporation and has been named one of the most powerful CEOs by Forbes magazine and one of the top CEOs in America by Institutional Investor magazine.

He is a trustee for the Manufacturers Alliance for Productivity and Innovation and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Dartmouth Thayer School of Engineering. Andy is also a member of the 2012 Class of Henry Crown Fellows at the Aspen Institute.

Andy previously served as a national trustee for The Boys & Girls Club of America and on the advisory board for Harvard Business School. He received a bachelor’s degree in Government from Dartmouth College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School

Andy and his wife live in the northern Chicago suburbs with their three children.
