Machine Shop Policies
Attention, All Shop Users
- You must sign-in at the machine shop office before you start working.
Be prepared to discuss your project. The Manager will help you get
started or will refer you to another staff member who can assist you.
- Wear Safety glasses at all times in the machine shop.
- Hair must be confined in a cap in order to prevent entanglement with
moving machinery. If you do not bring your own cap, we will provide one
for you to wear.
- Working alone in the machine shop is forbidden.
- Eating in the machine shop is forbidden.
- Wear suitable clothing. Sandals, cutoffs, or clothing that unduly
exposes your body to physical harm or consists of fringes or strings that
could get caught in moving machine parts is forbidden.
- Do not operate machinery or power tools until you have had instruction
from machine shop staff. You must ask for instruction on any tool or machine
for which you have not previously received instruction.
- Accept the judgement of the machine shop staff regarding matters
of safety and acceptable shop practice.
- Report any unsafe condition or any injury immediately to a
machine shop staff member.
- Clean your work area and put tools away before leaving.
- Sign-out at the machine shop office before leaving the shop.
