Yamini Bala
Yamini Bala teaches Integrated Science at Dr. Pedro Albizu Campos Puerto Rican High School in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago and is taking part in the VeLveT Ice project through PolarTREC, a program that brings K-12 educators and polar researchers together. K-12 teachers, such as Ms. Bala, spend 3-6 weeks participating in hands-on field research experiences in the Polar regions and use this experience to enrich their classes and develop teaching materials to increase students’ understanding and engagement in the Polar Regions and interest in polar science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) careers.
