Training for Coaches

The Montshire Museum and BAE Systems have teamed up to provide two training sessions for coaches this summer/fall.

FIRST® LEGO® League Rookie Coaches Training

Interested in starting a FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL®) team, but have more questions, or are not sure where to start? This training targets individuals who are interested in starting an FLL® team and new FLL® coaches that are interested in learning more. The training provides an overview of what it means to be a coach as well as tips and tricks from veteran coaches. In addition, event judges and coordinators will provide their insight as well in what it takes to prepare a team. No previous experience necessary!

Training took place in August 2014.

FIRST® LEGO® League Programming Workshop for Coaches

Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 9am–3pm
Montshire Museum of Science, Norwich, Vermont

Worried that you don’t know enough about programming and have a gaggle of kids to teach? Well, put your mind at ease! Come spend a day for a hands-on training session. We will go over basics of the EV3 programming language. This class will be tailored to coaches of FLL® teams. We will learn basic navigation and object manipulation, as well as some simple but effective uses of sensors. At the end you should be comfortable helping your team learn and having a productive and fun season. Pre-registration required by September 16.

Please note that this workshop focuses on the EV3 model and not the NXT model. If you have access to an EV3 robot, please bring it and a laptop loaded with the related software.

Free. Pre-registration required by September 16. Register on the Montshire Museum website.
