Engineers Without Borders:
Dartmouth Engineers Without Borders now operates under the umbrella of Dartmouth HELP worldwide. HELP worldwide was created to establish the necessary framework and infrastructure to allow humanitarian engineering service projects to become commonplace at Dartmouth. HELP worldwide maintains a chapter of Dartmouth-Engineers Without Borders to preserve its affiliation with EWB-USA as it recognizes the value of collaboration and commends EWB-USA on their noble work improving lives all over the world. Currently, the student officer’s of HELP worldwide are also the Dartmouth-EWB officers. Dartmouth's student chapter of the national organization EWB-USA, was founded in 2003 by a group of engineering students with a desire to integrate service learning into the engineering curriculum and to apply engineering skills to problems in the developing world. D-EWB’s mission is to further the Thayer School of Engineering mission by developing socially responsible and aware engineering students. D-EWB will act to improve the lives of those in under-resourced communities through an interdisciplinary effort built on an engineering core. This shall be accomplished through the application of engineering analysis and the implementation of appropriate technologies that are both economically and environmentally sustainable. |
