Students interested in applying engineering to environmental concerns may choose electives such as ENGS 171: Industrial Ecology, or a course in Environmental Law offered at Vermont Law School, located in South Royalton, Vermont, 25 miles from Hanover. Additionally, they may choose an environmental internship or project for ENGG 390.
A student interested in starting a high-technology company might choose electives such as ENGM 188: Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, or Tuck School's Advanced Entrepreneurship. Additionally, they may choose an entrepreneurial internship or project for ENGG 390.
Practical experience can be gained by working with Thayer School professors who have patented their work and established successful businesses. Strategic advice, mentoring, and networking information are available through the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network.
A Thayer School M.E.M. student may spend a fall term at Duke University, taking equivalent courses in the Master of Engineering Management program at Duke's Pratt School of Engineering.
ENGG 199 Special Topics in Engineering Sciences offers students the opportunity to study any topic not covered in the course catalog. The interested student should propose a topic the term before the course is to be taken.
