Students interested in applying engineering management to environmental concerns may choose electives such as ENGS 171 Industrial Ecology or a course in environmental law offered at Vermont Law School located in South Royalton, Vermont. Additionally, they may choose an environmental internship or project for ENGG 390.
A student interested in starting a high-technology company might
choose electives such as ENGM 188 Law, Technology, and Entrepreneurship or Tuck School's Advanced Entrepreneurship. Additionally, they may choose an entrepreneurial internship or project for ENGG 390. Practical experience can be gained by working with Thayer School professors who have patented their work and established successful businesses. A Thayer School M.E.M. student may spend a fall term at Duke University taking equivalent courses in Duke's Master of Engineering Management program.
ENGG 192 Independent or Group Study in Engineering Sciences offers students the opportunity to study any topic not covered in the course catalog. This is a general engineering course, and topics must have significant engineering focus.
