DFR-E85
2006 marked the 11th year Dartmouth Formula Racing has entered and entry into the FSAE Detroit competition. Last year the team set high goals at the beginning of the season some of which included a turbo charged ethanol power-train, on board data acquisition system, and carbon fiber body work.
Led by team leader Matt Hodgson, DFR built one of the fastest and definitely the most finished racecar Dartmouth has ever produced. Candi, as the 2006 car is known, suffered a major drivetrain failure in Detroit and consequently did not finish the endurance event. Though this was heart breaking for the team after a top ten finish in the design side of the competition and a 4th place finish in the skid pad event, the team rallied and entered Candi in the 2006 Formula Student Competition in England this past summer where the car finished 7th.
This year the E-85 team is fortunate to have the addition of a Race Electronics team and a Dampers team both of which have projects DFR has never sponsored before. Pictures of Candi are available on the Gallery page and for all progress on the 2007 car please feel free to check our Blog throughout the year. read more....
