For those that have been out of touch with DFR, here is a quick update on the team’s status.

For the past few years, we have built two cars: one with a hybrid gas-electric powertrain and another with an E85 ethanol powertrain.  For this season, we have decided to focus solely on the hybrid platform.  This move has the distinct advantage of focusing the entire team’s efforts into one car, whereas before, attention was easily split between the “sparkies” on the hybrid car, and the “gearheads” on the more traditional E85 car.

Let it be clear: we are building a race car, not a science project.  This year’s hybrid will be an agile, powerful car with an environmental mindset.  Think of the car as Mohammed Ali, with a bit of sideline coaching by Al Gore.
