Day 1: Technical Inspections and Judging

The first day of competition was a lot of teaching, both to judges and roughly 400 high school students from surrounding areas that came to see the hybrid race cars.  When the kids made it to the Dartmouth paddock they learned about three types of alternative transportation: the two DFR hybrid cars, an ethanol powered car, and Thayer’s very own bio diesel powered Big Green Bus.  The car has not made it completely through all of the technical inspections but the remaining bits should be taken care of on Wednesday morning first thing.  The team is look forward to the acceleration event tomorrow where they will use their low center of gravity and massive motor to break the illusive 0-75 meter time of 4 seconds.  Pictures from today’s events are posted in the photos section of the blog.  For all you 2005 “vicky” fans out there, make sure you are sitting down before you check out the photos section.
