SKYPE VIDEO MEETINGS:
MEETING FORMAT
You will talk with students interested in your company for approximately 8 minutes each, with a 2 minute break between meetings to allow time for notes or a quick check of your email.  Students will be encouraged to prepare an “elevator pitch” for each company - why should you hire them?  You can approach this short video meeting in any way that best delivers the results you are aiming to achieve.   You may ask them specific questions or allow them to lead the conversation.  We will encourage students and we encourage you to continue the conversations through email, or follow-up phone interviews, or Skype interviews.
TESTING
It is very important that you test your Skype connection with us in advance of the fair.  We will be notifying you of available times for Skype tests during the weeks of January 16th or 23rd.
SIGN-UPS/SCHEDULE
In the spirit of a true Career Fair, students will be allowed to sign-up for Skype time slots on a first-come-first served basis beginning January 30th.  You will receive a schedule of the student meetings along with their resumes in advance of the Fair.
JOB AND INTERNSHIP POSTINGS
We encourage you to post open positions with your career fair registration.  Students will view positions within the Virtual Career Fair and have the option to apply with their resume, cover letter, and other materials you require

OPTIONS FOR FURTHER COMMUNICATION:
You may not get to Skype with all students who have applied for your open positions, and you will likely want to talk further will some of the candidates who you have met briefly over Skype.  You are welcome to get in touch directly with any of the students you have received resumes from and/or met over Skype.  A few options for follow-up interviews include:

1. Skype Interview Schedule – We are happy to work with you to set up a pre-selected interview schedule using Skype.
2. On-campus Interview Schedule – We welcome you to spend a day on-campus to meet with pre-selected students.
3. Contact students for individual phone interviews or Skype video calls.

TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS:
At the first Thayer School Virtual Career Fair held in February 2011 we were fortunate to experience very, very few technical issues.  If any technical problems should arise this year, we will certainly do our best to rectify these issues immediately; however, please bear with us, and then work with us to set-up alternate times to talk to any students whose video meetings are missed due to technical problems.  Thank you.

What employers said about the 2011 Virtual Fair:

"I thought the Virtual Fair was a great way to connect with students while keeping down recruiting costs/time.  In most ways I felt it was just as effective as an in-person career fair."

"I was able to get a quick but reasonably accurate 'feel' for the candidates. It saved time, money, and energy over an on-site visit for a first interview."

"I valued the ability to meet eager and smart students in a fairly remote location."

"I got a chance to have a better understanding of the students that applied to our company.  It will help us select who goes to the next stage."

"By the nature of the sign up process, each student had already acquainted themselves with our company, which made for more productive conversations."
