Whether looking for a job or an internship, there are a variety of search strategies you may use to find your "dream" position. Most likely, your search will encompass a combination of these three:

The "Engineering - Career Services" Blitzmail Bulletin is also used for posting up-to-date information on recruiting programs, events and other special announcements. Please monitor this bulletin to be sure to see all opportunities.
75% of all jobs are found through networking! So it is important that you incorporate networking into your job or internship search.
You may use networking to:
1. Identify organization/positions that interest you
2. Learn more about organizations and positions for which you are applying, to perfect your application or prepare for an interview (i.e. increase your chances of landing the job).
3. Find additional contacts that may be helpful with #1 or #2

Thayer's Target Employer Connections (T.E.C.) - a database of companies, contacts and tips for pursuing internships and full-time jobs at "Target" organizations. Thayer students only - Please see Thayer Career Services for access to this database.
Employers hiring Thayer Grads (1997-present) and
Employers hiring Thayer Interns (2005-2008), may also be good starting points for targeting organizations.
LinkedIn (Thayer School of Engineering Group) * NEW * - an online networking and resource group for alumni, students, faculty, and staff interested in building professional networking connections.
Dartmouth Career Network provides access to more than 23,000 Dartmouth alumni (including Thayer alumni) who have volunteered to advise students and fellow alumni in their job, career, and graduate school explorations.

MentorNet is an e-mentoring network partnering undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and untenured faculty in engineering, science and mathematics with experienced professionals in their fields. MentorNet is open to all Dartmouth and Thayer students.
Thayer Career Services and Dartmouth (undergraduate) Career Services share an on-line recruiting system, DartBoard. This allows all Thayer students to access to On-Campus Interviews offered by both Thayer and Dartmouth Career Services. Thayer students are welcome to apply to all opportunities in DartBoard.

The Annual Engineering & Technology Career Fair (October 7, 2008), Thayer Internship Career Fair (late January), Employer Information Sessions and Alumni talks can also be very effective for connecting with internship and job opportunities. See our Events Calendar for details.
All full-time and internship positions posted through Thayer Career Services can be found on DartBoard. Bottom Line: This is your best resource for finding postings targeted toward Thayer students. In fact, many of the postings are sent to us from Thayer alums.
If you are interested in non-engineering positions, you may also want to monitor "Career Services" and "Career Services - Entry-level Jobs" BlitzMail Bulletins. Additionally internship postings via an online consortium will be available through the Undergraduate Career Services office by late 2008.
