  • The Chronicle's Career Network offers terrific resources and advice columns. We particularly recommend Mary Morris Heiberger and Julie Vick's Career Talk as well as the special section of advice on "Landing Your First Job." The Career Network also contains salary information for specific institutions, CV advice, and information on trends in academic hiring. Career forums established by the Chronicle are a great source to gather information and share your thoughts with others.

Searching websites of professional associations and other discipline specific resources may yield additional results for your field of interest. In addition, position announcements mailed directly to Thayer Career Services may be found in the "Academic Binder" of the Career Services Library.

    For position listings, select "Browse Jobs," then "Faculty/Research" positions in "Science and Technology." Note that as with many internet-based searches, searching on a broad category area—i.e. Engineering—will yield greater results than a narrowly-defined search.
