Pre-term ESL Program
Some international graduate students will be required to attend Dartmouth's English as a Second Language (ESL) program in late August. The program is taught by the Dartmouth College Rassias Center.
You will be notified by Thayer School if you are required to participate in this ESL program.
The international graduate student pre-term program is for students who must get used to speaking and listening to English full time. Students are taught presentation skills and a discussion on plagiarism is included. Also covered is adjusting to life in the United States and cross cultural understanding. This one week program enables students to feel comfortable in the classroom before their regular classes start.
After classes start, additional ESL assistance is offered by Dartmouth's ESL specialist at the Institute for Writing and Rhetoric.
