Apply online—please read the application instructions carefully before applying.
For B.E., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs, the deadline for priority consideration is January 1. The Admissions Committee will render B.E., M.S., and Ph.D. decisions by April 1 in most cases.
The M.E.M. program processes application in three admissions periods. To be considered in an admissions period, an application (with all supporting documents and a financial aid application if needed) must be received by the deadline indicated:
Applicants to the M.E.M. program who wish to be considered for financial aid must apply for financial aid concurrent with submitting their application for admission.
Interviews are encouraged for applicants to all programs, but are not required. Schedule an appointment by calling (603) 646-2606 or e-mail Engineering.Admissions@Dartmouth.EDU.
Requirements for admission:
Students admitted with deficiencies must complete required undergraduate engineering courses. Students who need more than three courses will enroll initially as a special student. Students with insufficient engineering background may want to apply to the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) program.
Admission to the Ph.D. Innovation Program is through Thayer School. Students must submit additional application materials for this track of the Ph.D. program; see admissions information for details.
Admission to the Ph.D. program combined with the IGERT program in Polar Environmental Change is through Thayer School. Students should clearly indicate their desire to participate in the IGERT program. Applicants should also contact the IGERT program office to indicate their interest.
Admission to the M.D./Ph.D. program in Biomedical Engineering is through Thayer School and Dartmouth Medical School (DMS). Joint-degree students are expected to meet the admissions requirements of both schools.
Part-time studies are available for residents of the Upper Valley who can meet the requirements for admission. Special and part-time students are ineligible for Thayer School financial aid.
Information and advice on applying to graduate school is available through Thayer School Career Services as well as Dartmouth Career Services.
